AI Assisted Ideation
In the past few years there has been a rapid growth in AI’s competence, and people have become fearful at its potential to take over our work, including those in the creative field. In an optimistic perspective, we hope to utilize the power of AI to our advantage. This project is a research paper which explores how AI uncertainty can add value to the ideation process. To do so, we have designed a workshop where participants are given a design challenge, in which they need to ideate a solution with the assistance of AI.

Workshop User Results
Each row shows the results of an individual user test, and their designs they made with AI assistance. These generations were powered by StableDiffusion.
Workshop setup
In our workshop, users would first go through the design process without AI, and then again with AI tools. The rapid design process typically consists of 10 minutes of writing, 10 minutes of sketching, and 10 minutes of lo-fi prototyping.

During assistance of AI, users can generate image to image ideas based on their sketches or lo-fi prototype. Furthermore, Chat-GPT can be used to assist the writing / brainstorming phase.
